I’ve had the opportunity to attend Coachella on quite a few occasions, which means I’ve picked up a few essential fashion tips. Thankfully, finding the perfect outfit for a music festival doesn’t have to be overwhelming.
As you pack for the festival, you’ll want to keep these style suggestions in mind.
1. Make Sure Your Shoes Are Comfortable
You’ll be on your feet all day long at a festival, and it’s likely you’ll be doing a lot of walking. We actually walked between 7 and 8 miles per day on average at Coachella. You’re not just doing a lot of walking; you’re walking outside in crowds in the sunshine, which means your feet can do a lot of sweating.
High-quality sneakers, flat boots or sandals, and Converse are all excellent options. Even though they’re fashion friendly, you should stay away from shoes that have higher heels. The exception to this would be if you’re planning on spending your time in the VIP area. You might be able to get away with heels there. However, if you want to do some dancing and get a great view during concerts, your shoes are going to need to be comfortable!
2. Wear A Hat, Not A Flower Crown
It’s nice to be out in the sun, but spending hours outdoors can be bad for your skin, and it can even lead to a sunburn. If you look around, it’s likely that you’ll see many sunburned faces at festivals.
That’s why you should opt for a wide-brimmed hat. Not only are they a fashion-forward choice, but they can help protect you from the sun.
If you’d prefer, you can also opt for a smaller hat, such as a small straw hat or even a standard baseball cap or visor. Of course, if you wear a hat like this, both your ears and neck will be exposed, which means you’ll need to slather on the sunscreen.
There are people that might think a wide-brimmed hat is too much, but remember, it’s a festival! This is the perfect time to be adventurous with your fashion.
3. Apply Sunblock and Lipbalm With SPF
You should apply SPF regularly. Don’t just put it on before you head out; make sure you reapply later in the day as well. With that said, you won’t have to reapply sunscreen if you head back inside after a few hours. The sun is at its hottest in the afternoon, so if you’re staying outside at this time, your sunscreen should definitely be reapplied.
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 100 is a terrific option for your body. For your face, Neutrogena Age Shield Face Oil-Free Lotion Sunscreen SPF 100 works very well.
If you have fair skin, you may be prone to sunburns, but a strong SPF will give you the protection that you need. Even if you spend a lot of time in the sun, you’ll be able to avoid getting burned.
4. Bring A Great Pair Of Sunglasses
Sunglasses make a big fashion statement, but they also protect your eyes from the sun. If you forget sunglasses, you can expect to do a lot of squinting. The sun is going to be very bright, which is why you’ll want some extra protection.
Sunglasses don’t just protect your eyes from the sun; they can help with sand and dust as well. If the weather is windy, your eyes will be shielded.
5. Pick The Right Hairstyle
Ideally, you should keep your hair up or braided at a festival. You’re going to be getting sweaty at the festival, which is why you should pick a style that will help you avoid sweat and tangles.
Braids look cute and can hep you to avoid tangles. An updo can also be great. Just make sure you pick a style you can wear with a hat!
6. Have Fun
Following the above tips will see you right at any festival but remember a festival is fun, be adventurous, stand out from the crowd. Bring along crazy accessories, there are tons of led necklaces: dolphins, skulls, guitars, country, and more all designed to bring a little fun to the party.
