There are only a handful of names ruling the video-on-demand streaming cartel. Those names include Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Hulu, and HBO, to say the least. These top 5 streaming services have taken the top shelf for decades and have brought about numerous changes in our video industry and the entertainment industry.

Disney+ is something that we have been watching all our lives as kids, adolescents, teenagers, and now it has transitioned into a streaming service with inclusion for adults as well. HBO has a similar story, started from a channel that began its own streaming service, and created the most hyped TV show, Game of Thrones.

Disney went on to introduce its own streaming service Disney+ in November 2019 and collectively introduced a Disney Bundle. A package that introduced both the services along with ESPN+ at a discounted price, making the most of their companies.

Hulu is exclusively available in the US and Japan only, as much as we may think that it is available worldwide. This is a surprising factor as all the other services have reach in numerous countries, Hulu being the only one with limited access, still managed to make it to the top 5.

The Handmaid’s Tale, a Hulu original TV series, was nominated for 33 Emmy Awards in 2017.

Hulu runs an ad-supported streaming service. In 2020, the service made nearly $2.4 Billion through these ads. It majorly has to do with the increased screentime during the pandemic, as this figure is a 22.7% increase from the previous total of $1.82 billion in 2019.

Hulu houses all the original American TV shows and series, and the figure has risen to about 3000+ with 90,000+ episodes in total.

In the 2019 Super Bowl, Hulu ran an ad with Alec Baldwin, who promoted the service as becoming the next big thing. That ad proved to be super successful and increased Hulu’s traffic by 42%.

Hulu runs multiple ads while you stream your shows online. It recently came up with a new ad strategy that runs the same ad twice, which has resulted in it being more effective.
